How to calculate Reverb fees

Reverb fee = selling fee + processing + Bump, where the selling fee is 5% of the sale price (floored at $0.50, capped at $500), processing is 3.19% (or 2.99% Preferred) of the sale price plus shipping charged, plus $0.49, and Bump is your chosen percentage of the sale price.

You keep = sale price + shipping charged − total fees. Net profit = you keep − item cost − actual shipping cost.

5 tips to keep more on Reverb

  • Enroll in Preferred Payments. The 0.20 percentage-point processing discount saves $0.10 on a $50 sale and $2.00 on a $1,000 sale — free money for sellers who qualify.
  • Use Bump only when the math works. A 5% Bump on a $50 sale costs $2.50. It only pays if the extra exposure lifts your realized price by more than the Bump fee. Test it in the calculator before enabling it shop-wide.
  • Watch the $0.50 minimum on cheap gear. On a $5 sale the selling fee is $0.50 (10% effective) plus $0.65 processing — $1.15 in fees, or 23%. Small accessories need higher prices or bundled listings to stay profitable.
  • Remember the $500 cap on big-ticket gear. On a $12,000 guitar the selling fee caps at $500 instead of $600, so Reverb’s effective rate actually falls as prices climb past $10,000.
  • Compare with eBay before listing guitars. eBay’s Guitars & Basses category charges 6.7%, which on a $50 sale is cheaper than Reverb’s $4.59 total. See the head-to-head in our Reverb vs eBay comparison.
